Day 5 – 30 Day Book Challenge – A Non-Fiction book that you actually enjoyed

30 Day Book Challenge – Day 5

A Non-fiction book that you actually enjoyed

I received two books for Christmas a couple of years ago from my mother they were both books on Charles Darwin the first one being, Charles and Emma The Darwins’ Leap of Faith by Deborah Heiligman and the second was The Origin of Species by David Quammen

Charles Darwin published The Origin of Species, on evolution and the fundamental ideas involved, in 1859.
The theory of evolution continues to create tension between the scientific and religious communities.
Challenges about teaching the theory of evolution in schools occur annually all over the country. This same debate raged within Darwin himself, and played an important part in his marriage: his wife, Emma, was quite religious, and her faith gave Charles a lot to think about as he worked on a theory that continues to spark intense debates. Charles and Emma is a fantastic book!

And the second one was Charles Darwin On the origin of species by Charles Darwin

This book immediately became one of the most controversial scientific works in history and still is today.
Notes from Darwin’s The Voyage of the Beagle allows the reader to  experience his journey and  understand how he developed his theory of evolution.

We could walk forever, Walking on the moon
We could live together Walking on, walking on the moon
Walking back from your house
Walking on the moon
Walking back from your house
Walking on the moon
Feet they hardly touch the ground
Walking on the moon
My feet don’t hardly make no sound
Walking on, walking on the moon
Some may say I’m wishing my days away
No way
And if it’s the price I pay
Some say Tomorrow’s another day
You stay I may as well play

Daily Prompt – Audience of One

Another Daily Prompt Challenge

Challenge :

Picture the one person in the world you really wish were reading your blog.

Write her or him a letter

Paul,

I know you get busy and have a lot on your mind,  but it would mean so much to me if you would just take a few minutes each day to read my blog,  it would take your mind elsewhere just for a little while and you might even have a good laugh.

I share quite a bit on my blog , silly jokes, awesome drink recipes, Totally useless bits of information and a lot of other random things I think up.   I’ve started another blog for Kirsten called Quotes for Kirty .

Angies Grapevine is one of the privileged recipients who won the “Beautiful Blogger Award”, I was so thrilled when I was nominated by a wonderful woman I only know through these WordPress Pages.

Pretty awesome eh? 🙂

Maybe I’ll write a piece on your obsession with your new Bolens Tractor….

I’ve been feeling  as though your missing out on a pretty important part of me, by not reading what I write….this “blogging” is important to me and I’d love for you  to see what I’m up too. 🙂

Hugs and kisses

Angie

Day 4 – 30 Day Book Challenge – A Book that reminds you of home

30 Day Book Challenge – Day 4

A Book that reminds you of home

I don’t think I’ve read a book that “reminds” me of home, but books that remind me of home growing up would be the Little house on the Prairie series, which I have my mother to thank for keeping everything, I loved the show, read the books and wanted to be just like Laura Ingalls.  The other books that bring me “home” would be the Dr. Seuss  and Al Perkins books, Green Eggs and Ham, Oh the places you will go and Hand, Hand Fingers Thumb…..

Daily Prompt – Take it from Me

Another Daily Prompt. Challenge

Challenge :

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve given someone that you failed to take yourself?

The best piece of advice I have given and do not always follow myself is “Don’t worry about what other people think, just be yourself.”
I must admit I often don’t follow this advice myself … I do my best and usually what you see is what you get but I think we all wear some sort of mask from time to time…. Something I need to work on….
One more….Be yourself cause everyone else is taken ≈ not sure who wrote it but I like it 🙂

A fellow blogger Hope*The happy Hugger posted what I often give as advice and don’t follow myself.

Day 3 – 30 Day Book Challenge – A Book that completely surprised you (bad/good)

30 Day Book Challenge – Day 3

A book that completely surprised you (bad/good)

This is a tough one….all books surprise me, I’m not one to choose a book because I have a favorite author, or because I read book reviews, I often choose a book because of its title and the cover, so every time I start to read a book its a surprise

That’s what I love about reading it’s like opening a  gift everytime I turn the page. 🙂

So to choose one it would have to be

Twilight by Stephenie Meyer

My daughter brought the book home from school when the book first came out and I picked it up one night and couldn’t put it down.  I’d read the book in 3 days!!!  Twilight was not a book I would have chosen myself and I was quite surprised at how much I enjoyed it.

Day 2 – 30 Day Book Challenge – Least Favorite Book

30 Day Book Challenge – Day 2

What is your least favorite book?

I know everybody will think I’m nuts, crazy, and have quite possibly no taste in literary genius, but my least favorite book isss- The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson!!!!

I tried and tried to read this book and just could not get into it..usually by the first few pages I know if I’m going to like a book or not, this one I kept reading and reading and well I hated it.  I have read some tricky books in my time ,  100 Years of Solitude by Gabriel Garcia Marquez  which I loved, I’ve even read Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen.

But this Dragon Tattoo book, well,  I just couldn’t get past page 132, and I’m not fond of the cover either. 😦

A good friend of mine gave me all THREE of them, and they just sit collecting dust, she has read all three and loved them and had suggested that I get at least 1/2 way through the first one and then I’d be hooked, well I made to about chapter 5 that’s it!!

Sorry guys but this is my Least Favorite Book. 🙂
