Lunch Date

Today is Happy Administrative professionals Day…………

There was a note left on my desk this morning saying

We’d have gotten you a card signed by everyone but you’re the one who organized those things 🙂

and “the boss man” invited me out to lunch, I politely responded saying:

I appreciate the lunch offer but would rather just have the cash.

Badaboom ching 😀 :

Ok I think I have now finished “basking in my awesomeness” to quote Papizilla

A friend of mine posted this on facebook for me today. It was the absolute perfect timing.  I’ve had an exceptionally long day and was quickly checking fb before bed and this is what I found……….

“Straight from me to you my sugar plum ♥”

The “sugar plum” is an inside joke which I may share with you after a glass of wine or two it’s a bit of a long silly story 😀

Enjoy!!!!!  I just love this little guy and check out his eyebrows at the end.

No Meat Monday – Tofu Stir-Fry

Tofu Stir – Fry
serves 4

tofu stir fry

  • 1 pound firm tofu
  • 2 tablespoons reduced-sodium soy sauce, plus more for serving
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon toasted sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon canola oil
  • 2 small onions, cut into wedges
  • 9 ounces button mushrooms, quartered
  • 1 large red bell pepper, ribs and seeds removed, cut into 1-inch squares
  • 1 1/4 pounds bok choy, cut into 1 1/2-inch pieces, stem and green pieces separated
  • 1/4 pound snow peas, trimmed
  • 5 paper-thin slices fresh ginger
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch dissolved in 2 teaspoons cold water
  • Lime wedges, for serving

  1. Halve tofu block lengthwise; slice each half into 8 rectangles. Arrange on a paper towel-lined baking sheet; top with more paper towels and another baking sheet. Weight with canned goods or a skillet. Refrigerate overnight or at least 20 minutes.
  2. Transfer tofu to a shallow dish. In a bowl, whisk together soy sauce, vinegar, and sesame oil with 1 tablespoon water; pour over tofu. Marinate 5 minutes (reserve marinade).
  3. Heat canola oil in a 12-inch nonstick skillet over high heat. Cook tofu until golden, 1 to 2 minutes per side. Set tofu aside.
  4. Stirring constantly, cook onions in skillet over high heat until browned, 5 minutes. Add mushrooms; cook 2 minutes. Add red pepper and bok choy stems; cook 3 minutes. Add peas and ginger; cook 1 minute. Add marinade, cornstarch mixture, bok choy greens, and tofu. Cook until heated through. Season with soy sauce as desired. Serve with limes.

Cook’s Note

The vegetables and marinade can be prepared ahead. You can use 1 pound peeled, deveined shrimp instead of tofu; the cooking times are the same

Andiroo the Foodie

My  brother – Andrew – a.k.a Andiroo, Uncle Fru Fru, jerk 😀 😀 😀
Is 7 years younger than me. My sister and I often tease him about the “unfortunate” accidents that occured when he was young… he had fallen while playing on the monkey bars in the back yard and broken both his arms….hmmm and the time he took a ride in his walker down a flight of stairs and ended up with 2 black eyes….hmmm

Those things did happen but we really had nothing to do with it we loved our little brother 😀

However he did get his revenge on one occasion….at the time we used Johnsons Baby Shampoo…also known as Shampee!!!!

He was the cutest little guy , he had the curliest brown hair and chubby cheeks and was my mothers “pride and joy” and still is.
“Be kind to your brother” or “Andrew wouldn’t have done that” or “Isn’t he just the best son a mother could have” ok she never said that exactly but my sister and I know that she thinks it…:D 😀 😀

All kidding aside I do love my brother very much.  I’m very proud of him, he has a family of his own now,and is an awesome husband and fantastic father to 3 girls.
He also loves to cook, is very witty and I do believe marked as “gifted” I just call him special. 😀 😀
One of his friends suggested he start a blog which I think is great idea I’ve stolen some of his pictures and captions off of fb to share with you.

If it’s on fb it fair game right?? 😀

Exhibit A :

experiment 04-20-13 aka “no life”:  3 different hole and dough densities are subject in this test.  subjects 13L, 5L, and 3C will be placed in a morning trial to determine the outcome of drunkin daddy bagel experiments…  i think i’ll try the top left one now just be safe…i really want the bottom right one though.

shouldn’t have used egg on top like it said… the kids like them they’re just a bit chewy… test subject 14L(not 13L) has not woken up yet… so we shall see

Exhibit B :

I think it could make for a very interesting blog 😀

Relay For Life

I was raised by my mom and my grandmother.  My dad left when I was a tiny, tiny baby, and my mom needed help.  I had a close bond with my grandmother, but it was nothing compared to the bond that Trinity had with her.

From the moment Trinity was born, I could tell that my grandmother was in love.  I mean, who couldn’t be?  There’s just a special, special thing between a child and her great grandmother, or ‘Gram Great’ as Trinity eventually called her.

Gram Great was a smoker the majority of her life.  She quit while I was a freshman in high school, after watching her sister lose the fight to lung cancer caused by asbestos exposure.

She didn’t quit soon enough, though, because she was eventually diagnosed with lung cancer.  Thankfully a combination of radiation and chemotherapy helped force the lung cancer into remission.  They had…

Thursday, Thursday

Thursday Thursday by Angie and the Grapevine

😀 😀 :D:D

Thursday Thursday, so good to me,
Thursday Thursday, it was all I hoped it would be
Oh Thursday morning, Thursday morning couldn’t guarantee
That Thursday evening you would still be here with me.

Thursday Thursday, can’t trust that day,
Thursday Thursday, sometimes it just turns out that way
Oh Thursday morning, you gave me no warning of what was to be
Oh Thursday Thursday, how yould cou leave and not take me.

Every other day, every other day,
Every other day of the week is fine, yeah
But whenever Thursday comes, but whenever Thursday comes
You can find me cryin’ all of the time

Thursday Thursday, …

With Love

Before humans die, they write their last Will And Testament.

They leave their homes and all they have, to those they have left behind.
If, with my paws, I could do the same…this is what I would ask…

To a poor and lonely stray, I would leave my happy home.
My bowl and cozy bed, soft pillows and all my toys.
The lap, which I loved so much.

Then tender, loving touch.  The hand which stroked my fur and the sweet voice which called my name.

I’d Will, to the sad, scared shelter dog, the place I had in my human’s loving heart.  A heart which knew no bounds.

So when I die, please do not say I will never have a pet again, for the loss and pain is more than I can stand.

Instead…go find an unloved dog.  One whose life has held no joy or hope, and give MY place to HIM.  This is the only thing that I can give… The LOVE I left behind.

THIS is my inheritance My Will and my last Testament
