Found Poems

Found poetry, which can also be a form a visual poetry, is when you take an exististing text and rearrange it, highlight it, cut it out, or in some other way alter it to make an original poem.

It is a lot of fun to look at a page and see what words jump out at you and what you can do with them. You can also use pretty much anything to create these collage poems: letters, speeches, and even other poems.

Poetry is all around you, ready for you to bring out the words and create it! Perhaps you are on the train and notice a discarded newspaper laying beside you. What can you do? Sure you can read the old news but then what? Take a highlighter and highlight all of the words and phrases that jump out at you. What sounds nice to the ear or resonates with you? You don’t have to choose words simply because they are beautiful words that seem pretty. Not all poems are about pretty thing after all. Experiment by looking for words that are jarring to your senses. When you are done (perhaps after you have reached your destination) cut out or write down everything you have highlighted. I guarantee you will find some delightful combinations. Feel free to insert your own words as well. The possibilities for unveiling new meaning is endless.

A Poem a Day for April

Papizilla and Sahm King are celebrating Poetry Month by getting as many of their “peeps” as they can to contribute a poem everyday for the Month of April.

I thought it would be fun to participate

There is also a facebook page and blog site both by the same name

We Drink Because We’re  poets

You should check it out there are some brilliant works of poetry being posted

I will try my best in the future to be a little more impassioned 😀

but for today we’ll just keep it in true Angie Style

😀 :D:D

A Poem a day
I said ok
Wonder what I’ll write today?

Something happy?
Something Sad?
Something serious?

How shall I begin?
Choose a phrase?
Choose a feeling?

A poem a day
What should I write today?

Happy Sunday

≈Laugh loudly, Love generously, Care deeply, Speak kindly≈

Haiku and related form

The faculty had a curling bonspiel at the East...  Love the title it’s the “related form” I’m writing here…:D 😀 😀

A little haiku
to explain my absence here
First there was working

Then curling bonspiel
lots of driving around town
The kids lost their game

But only by two
gained experience galore
still needed a tissue

Sportsmanship top-notch
Another long game today
more driving around

hope to have a win

See you on Monday
for Meatless recipes
and useless Tuesday info

Remember to Laugh loudly
Love generously
Care deeply
and most importantly
Speak kindly.

Bloggers block and coloring

Why am I having such a hard time writing about something???? It’s extremely frustrating , I have so many ideas floating around in my head, I think it’s a bit like clutter, I just don’t know where to start, maybe I should just close my eyes and just start typing and see what happens.
Ok I’m closing my eyes………typing, typing I am getting sleepy. 😀

I’ll start again….closing my eyes again

My daughter had curling practice tonight , she goes three times a week.

The conversations we mums and dads have are usually quite enlightening and funny, there is often quite a bit of laughter coming from our little “peanut gallery” we solve many of the world problems in an hour and a half 🙂
My friend Paula invited us all to a “Canvas Cafe” just for ladies, at the Library on Thursday night, it a class instructed by a local artist and she will supply everyone with a canvas etc a quick lesson a cup of coffee or tea and your on your way to creating a one of a kind piece which mine most certainly would be I really have no artistic talent my brother and sister got the creative gene , which brought up a conversation later with another friend of mine Lynette, I told her about  my love of coloring …. yes it’s true my name is Angie and I love to color, not kids coloring books but these cool things my mum got me onto a few years ago they are called mandalas, I was not very well at the time and needed something to occupy my timetother than focusing on my illness and the what if’s…..

What is a mandala?

A mandala is a complex abstract design that is usually circular in form.

In fact, “mandala” is a Sanskrit word that means “circle”.

Mandalas generally have one identifiable center point,

from which emanates an array of symbols, shapes and forms.

Mandalas can contain both geometric and organic forms.

They can also contain recognizable images that carry meaning for the person who is creating it.

In essence, mandalas represent the connection between our inner worlds and outer reality.

Designing your own mandalas can be both inspirational and therapeutic.

There are printable versions of mandalas if you’re not so artistically inclined like myself

I do love coloring and don’t do it enough I’d love to go to the “Canvas Cafe” Thursday night but I was invited out to a “girls night” there are only four of us we are planning on bowling on the Wii and maybe playing a game called Sequence , while enjoying pizza, snacks, wine and beer, when we get tired we’ll put our onesies on and go to bed cause we all must go to work in the morning.

Opening eyes now

WOW that actually worked!!!
