Wednesday Wisdom from Daughter # 3

Bentley

Bentley Baby is visiting again, and Daughter #3 is helping to teach him the rules and show him the way to being a good dog. 😀

Bentley is a really big puppy.  His size tells you he should behave like an older dog, his brain tells you otherwise. 😀

The two of them had been outside playing in the snow last night and when they came in he had a hard time settling down.  He didn’t want the fun to end so he started to antagonize the other animals, trying to coax them into playing.  This wasn’t going over so well. 😀

Daughter #3 finally got him to settle down and had him sit in front of her and then the reprimand began.

In a very sweet soft voice she began, “You just don’t think do you?  You can’t just run around the house like a crazy dog, you’ve got to use your head and think, what do you think is going to happen when you behave this way?  You’ve got to use your head Bentley ”  “Do you understand what I’m telling you?,” you’ve got to be a good boy.”

I couldn’t contain myself, I started laughing so hard when I heard this, she looked over at me with a very serious face, and I thought I was going to get a talking to when she started laughing,   she realized who she was talking to, but it must have worked, because he finally settled down.

I’ve often told my friends that I talk to our dogs like kids, I never use the “proper” words like off, down, drop it, my words are more like get down, give me that, ready, I’m not kidding and off you go.  When I’m getting dinner ready and the dogs are hovering in the kitchen many would say “out” I say “c’mon you guys, get out of the kitchen, I can’t move in here”, it works just as well as out, just takes a little longer to get to the point 😀

Cesar Millan should stop by sometime, Daughter #3 and I could teach him a few things about how to talk so dogs will listen.

Three dogs feast!

We have Bentley Baby visiting again while his family is on vacation…..

nutella

Three dogs alone in the kitchen,
One empty jar of Nutella, complete with knife on counter

Me outside with a cold one 😀

The results

Priceless!

😀 😀

Yes I know chocolate is very bad for dogs, they didn’t really eat it, just knocked everything down…

😀

Frenzied Friday!!

Well here we are the end of another week.
The “Boss Man” has left to go to Florida and won’t be back until next weekend.  Woo hoo 😀 😀
Soooo
My family and I have the pleasure of looking after my four-legged co-worker and daytime companion,
BENTLEY a.k.a “Marley”, “Demon”, “Diablo” just kidding but this puppy is so full of pep and vinegar!!!!!

I wrote a post a few months ago about my furry friend and co-worker BMR. He was not quite two when passed away, he was a very young dog with old dog bones and a weakening heart.

We all miss BMR terribly and will never forget him.  He was a truly remarkable dog, the vet felt he had been in pain for quite some time due to his thinning bones, but none of us ever saw it, he still loved going for walks ,playing catch and he loved his stuffed toys, all we saw were his loving eyes and his love for everyone he met.

bmmmrr

Within a month or so of BMR’s passing, Bentley arrived.

Life hasn’t been the same since for anyone 😀

He is a Golden Retriever who thinks he’s a Jack Russell Terrier, jump, jump, jumping and running at the speed of lighting with his bum close to the ground like a rabbit.

He really does remind me of Marley from that fantastic book and movie Marley and Me!

When I leave the office without him, out of spite 😀 , he takes pieces of paper out of the trash can and chews them up into smaller pieces, as quickly as he can I’m sure and leaves the office floor littered with little bits of paper, and sits in the middle of his newly made mess with quite an innocent look on his face 😀
Just the other day he was left in the house alone for the first time out of his crate and he chewed his bed to pieces, it looked a little something like this:

Our two dogs and two cats were taken by surprise this evening when Bentley arrived, it will be quite a busy house over the next few days!!!

One of the first things he will learn is to stay out of my garden!!!

With Love

Before humans die, they write their last Will And Testament.

They leave their homes and all they have, to those they have left behind.
If, with my paws, I could do the same…this is what I would ask…

To a poor and lonely stray, I would leave my happy home.
My bowl and cozy bed, soft pillows and all my toys.
The lap, which I loved so much.

Then tender, loving touch.  The hand which stroked my fur and the sweet voice which called my name.

I’d Will, to the sad, scared shelter dog, the place I had in my human’s loving heart.  A heart which knew no bounds.

So when I die, please do not say I will never have a pet again, for the loss and pain is more than I can stand.

Instead…go find an unloved dog.  One whose life has held no joy or hope, and give MY place to HIM.  This is the only thing that I can give… The LOVE I left behind.

THIS is my inheritance My Will and my last Testament

The Laugh

beagle

I did a very bad thing
I laughed
It’s worse than that time in Beijing
when I laughed

It was in Gananoque while I was away
I was stuttering trying to say Gananoque
all that came out was Gana Gan Gana
a smart young man began to tease me
I gave him a smack
and we started to laugh

He was the boy who was walking
and while talking
leaned down to say hello to a dog
all of a sudden he was in a rather large fog
when the dog jumped up and bit him

He was telling me the tale
and I said without fail
Well I’m glad your ok
and
“What kind of dog was it”
he then said with a smirk
A Beagle with a really big tail

Well I just could not contain myself
I laughed
my heart now on the ice shelf
I then quickly back tracked and apologized
and said
I’m so sorry I was expecting a much larger dog……

We both laughed
and he is ok
with just a small mark on his nose
and a good lesson learned
not to say hello to strange old beagles

The Sleepover with Beeemmmuuuuurrrrr

I started working for “the man” about 3 years ago, he had 2 dogs lovely dogs Lincoln and Caddie short for Cadillac, they became my co-workers and companions.

Lincoln was 17 when he passed away.  Caddie and I were left with just each other.  Caddie was only 7, and had gone to the groomer , and “the man” had received a phone call that Caddie could not stand up and his breathing was erratic and they were taking him to the vet ,  Caddie passed away just hours later, he had tumors throughout his body, he never showed any signs of being ill,  some of the tumors started to bleed and there was really nothing that they could do for him, my daughter and I went to the vets office to say our good byes.

It was just awful for the next few weeks, “the man” started to look for a puppy against my wishes 🙂 I felt he should find a dog from the shelter,  however he found  the most gorgeous puppy and had brought him home within a few weeks and named him BMR. Beemur

BMR (Beemer)

He has been my constant companion ever since, spending 6 – 7 hours a day together.

I often say to people, that “the man” has this thought in his head that  BMR is his dog, silly man, he is soooo my dog. 🙂

So back to the story

“The man” goes to Florida once a month for a week, and my family and I care for BMR,  he’s been having sleepovers at our house since he was “knee-high to a grasshopper”

I already have 2 dogs, 2 cats, a degu and a rat and various fish, the children and Paul.

It makes for a very busy household especially at supper time.

Tonight he is sleeping over because “the man” has gone to the big city to do his Christmas shopping, attend a fancy Christmas Party, see the dentist, and visit his mother.  🙂

As soon as we got home and I let him out of the car, he bolted for the front door and could hardly contain his excitement, my two dogs were on the other side of the door joining in on the joyous reunion.   The barking, howling and shenanigans began.  Running circles around each other, jumping, and yes more barking.  Bmr  has a great night so far, and has as usual made himself quite at home again.

My “old” dog Sim’s is sometimes not the most patient of girls, so there can be quite a bit of growling and quick barks, never bites just lots of warning signals, Scamps is a small dog and loves to bark when BMR is here, he just gets so darn excited 🙂

He is mindful of the cats when he visits they have the power and authority to put any thoughts of play or mischief out of his head.

They are finally all asleep after lots of frolicking in the snow, ball chasing, and rough housing outside,  Sim’s is in her chair, and Bmr and Scampie are on a big fleecy blanket on the floor.  Soon I’ll go to bed and they’ll all be there fighting for space and Paul will try to gain some control of the sheets and his piece of real estate on the proverbial bed.

Always wanted to use that word in a sentence proverbial …….

Bmr will be back again in January for a whole 10 days this time. Can’t wait.
