The Pooh Perspective

books

I choose an area of my house to “purge” each week, I hate clutter and don’t have much of it, however, I do have a bit of a hoarding problem when it comes to books…it’s a rainy Sunday and the girls are still sleeping so I thought I’d sort my “library” and I found a book my sisterĀ had given to me that she had given my grandmother a number of years ago.

Granny was a lover of Pooh Bear šŸ˜€

The title of the book is “Pooh’s Little Instruction Book“.

It’s a really fun book to look through, full of reminders and suggestions on how to live a good life – Winnie – The – Pooh style.

Like this one:

“Always watch where you are going.Ā  Otherwise, you may step on a piece of the Forest that was left out by mistake.

or

“You can’t stay in your corner of the Forest waiting for others to come to you .Ā  You have to go to them sometimes.”

and quite possibly my favorite:

“Sometimes, if you stand on the bottom rail of a bridge and lean over to watch the river slipping slowly away beneath you, you will suddenly know everything there is to be known.”

Your Banana May Contain……..

bananas-thumb

It’sĀ becoming harder and harderĀ  to know whats in and on our food!

Soy sauce may contain gluten;Ā  ice cream may have tree nuts in it, salad mix may be tainted with E. coli.

But there are some foods that are so pure, so uncomplicated, that they are just what they are, right?

Like bananas.

NOT!

As Science Daily reports, scientists have come up with a new spray they say will prevent bananas from ripening into brown mush for almost two extra weeks.

What’s the big deal you ask?

Well, let me tell you, Ā the spray is made from chitosan, which is derived from the shells of shrimp and crabs.

CanĀ you imagine the simple bananaĀ carryingĀ a warningĀ labelĀ ā€œThis product may contain shellfish byproducts.ā€Ā If sprayed this lovely yellow, handy fruit would beĀ  off-limits to hard-coreĀ vegans and to people who suffer from shellfish allergies.

The chitosan-based spray is not available commercially yet, so no bananas are being treated.

Personally I think they should leave well enough alone, bananas are great just the way they are, when they get too ripe their great for baking, smoothies and face masks šŸ˜€

Thoughts anyone?
