Just a glimpse……

My crazy, yet loveable family….

Here is just a  glimpse into what I am forced to endure over the holidays.

😀 😀

Daughter #1 gave her sisters their gifts….it took the girls only 15-20 minutes to cut through the duct tape!!!

And from my mother….a fabulous thrift store find .99 cents each and and additional 50% off I might add!!! 😀 😀

As the title says this is “just a glimpse” into Christmas Day with my family…..and one wonders why I love my wine so much!
Hope everyone had a wonderful holiday.
Off to visit my brother and his family today, I can hardly wait 😀 😀

T’was the morning of Christmas

christmas racoon

‘Twas the early morn of  Christmas, when all through the house

Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse; cause Grumpy cat ate him,

The stockings sitting on the couch with care,

St. Nicholas had certainly been there

The teenagers were nestled all snug in their beds,

While visions of Ipods danced in their heads;

And mamma in her jammies, with coffee in hand

Had just settled down to write a her Christmas Blog

When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,

I sprang from my chair to see what was the matter.

Away to the window I flew like a flash,

Tore open the drapes and tripped on a gift

The moon on the breast of the 5 feet of snow,

The temperature damn near 30 below,

When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,

But a rather large racoon, and eight little ones ,

With a bag full of garbage, she grabbed it real quick,

I knew in a moment I’d have a big mess to clean,

More rapid than eagles I ran,

And I whistled, and shouted, and called them bad names;

Now, you rascals, you rascals you’ve made a big mess!

On with you, on with you go back to your nest!

To the top of the porch! To the side of the house they ran!

Now garbage was everywhere, everywhere, gawd such a mess!

As raccoons that before had entered my yard,

When I meet them again, shall send them packing again,

So down the driveway the little rascals did run ,

With a bag full of garbage, and my compost too.

And then, in a twinkling, I heard on the roof

The skitter and scattering of each little foot.

As I pulled up my hood, and was turning around,

Down the chimney the little rascals came with a bound.

They were dressed all in fur, from their head to  their feet,

And their fur was all tarnished with ashes and soot;

A bundle of garbage they had in their mouths,

And they looked like they’d be having a feast.

Their eyes — how they twinkled! There cheeks how pudgy!

Their cheeks were full, their noses like a buttons!

Their droll little mouths were drawn up like a bows,

And the beards of their chins were covered in trash;

The stump of a pine cone she held tight in her teeth,

And the smoke it encircled her head like a wreath;

She had a broad face and a little round belly,

That shook, when she laughed at me.

She was chubby and plump, a right jolly old racoon,

And I laughed when I saw her, in spite of myself

A wink of her eye and a twist of her head,

Soon gave me to know I had nothing to dread

She spoke not a word,

And ran away; then turned with a jerk,

And giving a sniff with her nose,

And giving a nod, out of the yard she went,

She sprang to her feet, to her kids gave a whistle,

And away they all flew down the driveway like the down of a thistle.

But I heard her exclaim, as they ran out of sight

Happy Christmas to All!!!

Best Wishes for a Wonderful Holiday Season and a New Year filled with Peace and Happiness!

The Sleepover with Beeemmmuuuuurrrrr

I started working for “the man” about 3 years ago, he had 2 dogs lovely dogs Lincoln and Caddie short for Cadillac, they became my co-workers and companions.

Lincoln was 17 when he passed away.  Caddie and I were left with just each other.  Caddie was only 7, and had gone to the groomer , and “the man” had received a phone call that Caddie could not stand up and his breathing was erratic and they were taking him to the vet ,  Caddie passed away just hours later, he had tumors throughout his body, he never showed any signs of being ill,  some of the tumors started to bleed and there was really nothing that they could do for him, my daughter and I went to the vets office to say our good byes.

It was just awful for the next few weeks, “the man” started to look for a puppy against my wishes 🙂 I felt he should find a dog from the shelter,  however he found  the most gorgeous puppy and had brought him home within a few weeks and named him BMR. Beemur

BMR (Beemer)

He has been my constant companion ever since, spending 6 – 7 hours a day together.

I often say to people, that “the man” has this thought in his head that  BMR is his dog, silly man, he is soooo my dog. 🙂

So back to the story

“The man” goes to Florida once a month for a week, and my family and I care for BMR,  he’s been having sleepovers at our house since he was “knee-high to a grasshopper”

I already have 2 dogs, 2 cats, a degu and a rat and various fish, the children and Paul.

It makes for a very busy household especially at supper time.

Tonight he is sleeping over because “the man” has gone to the big city to do his Christmas shopping, attend a fancy Christmas Party, see the dentist, and visit his mother.  🙂

As soon as we got home and I let him out of the car, he bolted for the front door and could hardly contain his excitement, my two dogs were on the other side of the door joining in on the joyous reunion.   The barking, howling and shenanigans began.  Running circles around each other, jumping, and yes more barking.  Bmr  has a great night so far, and has as usual made himself quite at home again.

My “old” dog Sim’s is sometimes not the most patient of girls, so there can be quite a bit of growling and quick barks, never bites just lots of warning signals, Scamps is a small dog and loves to bark when BMR is here, he just gets so darn excited 🙂

He is mindful of the cats when he visits they have the power and authority to put any thoughts of play or mischief out of his head.

They are finally all asleep after lots of frolicking in the snow, ball chasing, and rough housing outside,  Sim’s is in her chair, and Bmr and Scampie are on a big fleecy blanket on the floor.  Soon I’ll go to bed and they’ll all be there fighting for space and Paul will try to gain some control of the sheets and his piece of real estate on the proverbial bed.

Always wanted to use that word in a sentence proverbial …….

Bmr will be back again in January for a whole 10 days this time. Can’t wait.
