I am a bit late sharing this with you,
It was Daughter #3’s 12th birthday on the 26th of August
This was her cake
courtesy of her Grandmother
that’s right
her Grandmother!!!
When Daughter #3 was visiting her dear sweet grandmother this summer with her cousin they would “check out” the boys in the area and when they saw a real cutie they’d say
HOT DANG!
So the wheels started turning in my dear mothers head and she came up with this awesome idea for her cake!!
not only did she put a half naked man on a pre teens cake she took Daughter #2 to see
enough said 😀
Raising children is a tough job but when you’ve got a mother like mine….welllll
Just kidding Mum
We are fortunate to have such a positive role model such as yourself in our children’s lives……
😀
Wow!! It’s been 8 days since I last posted!!!
We were looking after “the boss man’s” puppy, Bentley a.k.a Marley!
Bentley baby was picked up on Saturday night and life is slowly getting back to normal 😀
He really wasn’t all that bad, we found the mornings the worst, 3 dogs excited to go outside and 2 indoor cats waiting to make a break for it!
We’d have him back in a heartbeat!
Last night “the boss man” invited us over for a drink, one of his signature Margaritas.
He mixed up a huge batch in a blender enough for the 4 of us but he won’t share his secret mix. 😀
The one drink that I did have, was pretty potent! I was a little tippy on the way up the hill to the driveway. 😀
I think I’ll be one up on him with this recipe though!
Gallon Margartita
6 cups tequila (you’ll need to buy two fifths for this)
2½ cups triple sec (just buy one fifth, please)
2½ cups fresh lime juice
2½ cups fresh lemon juice
2 cups simple syrup
Mix ingredients together in gallon container. Don’t forget to refrigerate! When ready to serve, pour mixture into a 16-ounce glass filled with ice. Salted rim is optional.
Makes 21 margaritas.
I found this great website called Sweetly Raw she’s got all kinds of yummy good for you vegan deserts. I love mango and of course raspberries, I can’t wait to make this!!!
Mango Raspberry Tart
Crust:
2 cups nuts of choice
3/4 cup pitted, packed dates
Grind the nuts and dates together in a food processor. Add 1-2 teaspoons of water if the mixture is too dry and crumbly.
Press the mixture into an 8″ tart pan, or use mini tart pans.
Filling:
2 cups diced mango
1 1/2 cups cashews
1/4 cup agave
2 tablespoons melted coconut oil
1-2 tbs lemon juice
1/3 cup melted cacao butter
2 cups raspberries
Blend all but the cacao butter, coconut oil, and berries, until smooth and creamy.
Add the cacao butter/oil and blend until completely mixed.
Evenly spread some of the raspberries over the crust and then smash them down with a fork.
Spread the mango filling over top.
Garnish with the remaining raspberries (and more if needed).
Well it’s Friday.
I have fallen off the wagon.
I have had 2 bottles of beer since I came home around 5, so that’s not too bad, about 1 beer per hour…tee hee hee 😀
I think I will have one of these next 😀
1 1/4 ounces coconut rum (recommended: Malibu Rum
Ice
Pineapple juice, to fill
I have had Malibu coconut rum with Five Alive and Mango juice very, very nice!
I’m off to meet daughter #3 who has been enjoying an extended vacation with Grandma, niece #1 and niece #2 oh and of course my lovely sister…:D From there we are travelling two hours north to my brother’s house to drop off niece #2.
Happy Friday!!!!
I am still alcohol free it’s been a couple of weeks now!!
Over the last couple of weeks admittedly I have had in total, 4 drinks 😀
But other than that I’ve been doing really well 😀
Here is a great non alcoholic cocktail
In a cocktail glass filled with ice, add 3oz mango juice, 3oz peach juice.
Top with soda water and stir to mix.
Garnish with star fruit.

I’ve been up since 5:30, hung some laundry outside, vacuumed, stripped the beds and now I sit with a coffee.
Daughter #2 is in Alberta for 2 weeks and Daughter #3 is in Newmarket for 2 weeks spending time with Grandma!!! Ahhhhhhh what will I do???
Well I’ll tell you….
Yesterday I went to work for a couple of hours and the “boss man” dragged me kicking and screaming to a yard sale 😀
I didn’t have any cash on me so I had to beg and plead for the .75 for this lovely rooster 😀
Dagnabit
I went to grab my camera to take a couple of photos for this post and guess what ????? Couldn’t find it …. so I looked high and low, still no camera, the girls!!!! Ok calm down think like Daughter #3 where would I put it…hmmmm….in the photo box, ta da there it is Ang is happy, grrrrrr no batteries, sent tall, bald blue-eyed man to the store….I wait, the time is now 7:18….tick tock tick tock.
This is not the first time my camera has been MIA – In December I wrote a post on this very subject called Fun Friday Foto Finds.
He’s back. 7:53, now I can finish up my post 😀
Then I had a visit with my friend Deboarah at the Cona Stoa the inspiration for this blog, came home and did a bit of house work then sat on the deck for a couple of hours enjoying the sunshine alcohol free and then we went out for dinner CHINESE…YUM
This was my fortune: “Laugh long, loud and often” loved it as this is similar to what I add at the end of my post courtesy of Me and the Boss 2013
and of course we must add “in the bedroom” to the end of any fortune for added entertainment, so here goes
Laugh long, loud and often in the bedroom. 😀
Today I will do much of the same, it’s another beautiful day!!!
Corner of our deck that I will be enjoying in a couple of hours..:D
Happy Sunday!!!

Ingredients
Directions
Our dogs love popsicles and ice cream!!
I found some great Pupsicle recipes at Modern Dog
BASIC RECIPE
1 ripe banana 4 cups orange juice 1/2 cup plain yogurt
Puree all ingredients in a blender—or simply mash the banana by hand and combine with the juice and yogourt—then pour into a popsicle mold, freeze, and serve to your favourite hot dogs.
VARIATIONS
Switch up your fruit. Try subbing in: Blueberries Strawberries Peach Watermelon Or mix in some peanut butter.
You can also vary the juice you use. Try pineapple juice or apple juice; just check to be sure the juice you use is all-natural and has no added sugar.
* watermelon, strawberry, pineapple juice, and yogurt
* peanut butter, banana, apple juice, and yogurt
Homemade (no salt) chicken-broth pops
Had barbequed chicken for dinner? Don’t chuck the carcass! Throw it in a large pot, cover with water, and let it simmer for an hour and a half. Cool, then pick the meat off, discarding the bone but keeping the cartilage, meat, and broth. Left over cooked carrots and/or peas? Mash them up and mix them in! Pour the chicken broth into your popsicle mold (save whatever’s leftover as a tasty addition to your dog’s next few meals) and freeze. Best served outside. –
Feeling lazy?
Simply cube some Watermelon, chuck it in a Ziplock baggie, and toss it in to the freezer for a natural, on-the-go “freezie” you and your dog can share. –
Our dogs love most fruits and veggies especially watermelon, Sims loves cantaloupe and peas!
There is a story making the rounds that ice can cause bloat in dogs. While extreme cold, such as drinking a bucket of ice water, might cause the stomach to spasm, it’s unlikely to cause either bloat (the stomach fills up with gas) or torsion (the stomach flips over and twists the entrance and exit-a life threatening problem). At any rate, we suggest that people only give their dogs one pupsicle at a time; they’re intended to be a treat, not eaten 12 in a go anyways. 🙂
I found these great recipes at the Modern Dog website.
I really try to be upbeat and positive in my posts, I try my best to post fun, upbeat, and thoughtful posts and stay away from negatives and woe is me posts but today is a little different… and as my friend/fellow blogger Me and the Boss 2013 has said,
“Angie is a versatile blogger (she has that award too) who just blogs from
the heart. The joy is in not knowing what she will come up with next.
A Canadian who does not write with an accent (aye), however, her mind
has obviously been warped by too many cold winters”
That about sums it up 😀 😀 😀
In my life I also try to surround myself with positives and steer clear of negatives, life is too short to be crabby and miserable or to be wasting time feeling sorry for ourselves…I almost always have a smile on my face no matter what but today was a little different…
Life is good , I am happy-ish, all my children are healthy , I have the best family ever, both my parents are alive, I have an awesome brother and sister who have brought into my life equally amazing spouses and nieces and nephews, I have amazing friends, beautiful attention seeking pets, I have a full time job, nice car, I’m in a relationship with a tall, handsome blue eyed bald man, and I appreciate what I have and don’t want for much…other than just one more glass of wine 😀
It’s almost 11 pm in beautiful Muskoka, and I have had not a bad day, full of fun laundry, fun housework and fun gardening, and of course fun dinner prepping ,cooking and cleaning up! Breakfast and lunch on weekends is usually a “serve yourself” occasion 😀
Oh we did have a small bonfire tonight 😀 😀 BONUS
back to the moaning,
All day my mind has been busy, I could not stop my brain from thinking, I have been questioning my life. Oh gawd here she goes
I am almost 45, probably pre menopausal, I have 4 children, I’ve almost as some say … had two families. although I don’t see it that way, in my eyes I have 1.
My children are 11,14, 23 and almost 27, so I guess in a sense that is two families…. hmmm. 😀
Well today I have been questioning the direction my life is going, is this really what I am supposed be doing? Cooking , cleaning blah blah blah, I suppose as a mother that is part of the “job description”, but I need to find the middle ground.
I have been questioning my job, relationship, friendships, generally, my life .
I have been feeling like everyone’s personal assistant, driving here and there, being responsible for grocery shopping , cleaning, cooking, laundry, feeding pets you name it , it’s my job!!!! Not to mention my “day time” job!! I feel like a freaking robot! and unappreciated.
I’m getting really pissed off sorry mum with everyone, when did my life stop???? I seem to have lost myself again…
I don’t do much anymore that I like to do because I’m busy making sure everyone else is taken care of….oh please no applause necessary 😀
I also have not been feeling well the last few days and that does not help, I get a little spooked when I don’t feel quite right and get angry and resentful when I have to keep going…when all I want to do and should do is rest. I know, I know I should say “hey guys step up and help me out..” but I don’t such a martyr 🙂 I just feel like they should “step up” on their own and care about me for a change, why should I have to ask, they don’t.
I am my own worst enemy and I know it, I am very independent and stubborn and probably don’t give them room to help ….
As I have said before tomorrow is a new day and I probably just need some sleep.
Happy, Happy, Joy, Joy it will be Monday tomorrow uggghhhh
