One of my co workers is a beautiful 1 year old golden retriever, I have “worked” with him since I could hold him in one hand.
Almost every month for the last year and a bit for a week at a time he comes and has a “holiday” at my house, I already have 2 dogs and 2 cats and various other little critters and the girls 🙂
Usually BMR Beemer sleeps in Hayleighs room when he visits and the other two sleep with me.
Last night however was a little different.
ALL three were with me, Simba usually snuggles in in front of me and Scampie behind my legs which still happened last night with a little twist: BMR was lying lengthwise against my back, head on pillow, give new meaning to “snug as a bug in a rug”!! As I was lying there all I could do was smile, many people do not allow dogs, cats on the bed and here I was surrounded by 3, snoring, heavily breathing doggies.
Our usual morning routine is to let the dogs out and have a coffee while they use the facilities, I have their leashes outside attached to longer ropes, I don’t like tying them up but it is so dark out that I can’t see the deer, raccoons and whoever may be wandering around, I’m often in a zombie state first thing in the morning so it’s just easier this way and not to mention safer. When BMR is here I let Simba out with him first, Scampie and BMR play too much and don’t focus on the task at hand. This morning was no different from any other I let them out grabbed my coffee and told Scampie to wait, he sat on the other side of the front door fussing so I spoke to him through the door saying “just wait a minute” and again “wait”, I laughed thinking it’s like the girls in the morning yelling at each other to hurry up in the bathroom.
When everyone is ready to come in the cats are often lying in wait for us on the other side of the door along with one of the dogs held hostage afraid to move, they both block the stairway to the rest of the house, I go first all three follow as I move the cats along, Murphy is the worst, he’s like a medium-sized dog nearing 20 pounds, he presses all his weight down to the floor it’s like moving furniture with your foot! They all go straight to the kitchen and sit like show dogs in front of the “biscuit” cupboard waiting for their treats.
So there you have it, my early morning routine….and then…the teen and pre teen morning routine!!
note to self :
It is not wise to give dogs broccoli and cauliflower…..I had added some veggies to their food two nights in a row, Bmr was very gassy all day yesterday and into the night while I woke up this morning to the fragrance of not one but possibly three.
